Our criteria: Connecticut-based, direct arts programming (classes, residencies, education, working artist support), small enough that a focused monthly donation moves the needle.

The Starry Night is van Gogh's most famous painting, completed in June 1889 at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. He painted it during the day, from memory, of the view from his east-facing window. The cypress tree, the eleven stars, the swirling sky, an invented village. He called it a failure. It now hangs in MoMA. We put a desert version of it on the back of the tee because the spirit of that painting — the willingness to keep making things when the world isn't ready — is the same spirit that runs through No 925.
